Medical Detectives

Welcome to PLTW Medical Detectives!

PLTW Medical detectives is a STEM based class that explores types of careers (EMT, forensic pathologist, detective, etc) and defines the common responsibility of these jobs to use science, math, communication skills, and collaboration to determine cause of deaths in real life experiences.  Students are currently presenting their researched biomedical careers to the class.  (see pictures)  Students experience hands on ways to take vital signs like a medial detective recording peers temperature, blood pressure, and heart rate.  Students explore the anatomy and physiology of the human brain by dissecting a sheep brain and identifying parts.  Students end the semester course by using their skills and knowledge to solve a murder mystery through science technology such as DNA Electrophoresis and performing a mock autopsy report.
